At Paradigm Treatment Centers, we understand that teens and families often experience many challenges in seeking the right teen treatment option. It’s common for both parents and teens to have moments of feeling completely overwhelmed at all the questions they have, and moreover, finding help that will actually work. These challenges can be even more discouraging in cases of Teen Treatment Resistance, which refers to cases of Teen Mental Illness and/or Behavioral Conditions which initially don’t show the desired results and/or are considered difficult to treat. Understandably, when teens and families make sincere efforts and treatment and these efforts don’t create positive changes, this is very difficult for everyone. At Paradigm Treatment Centers we have extensive experience working with cases of Teen Treatment Resistance and finding therapeutic solutions that help young people find the healing and growth they’re looking for.
It’s important to recognize that Treatment Resistant doesn’t necessarily mean more severe. When teens are Treatment Resistant, more often than not what it means is the initial efforts at treatment were unsuccessful. It’s worth noting that in the majority of instances, these initial efforts were broad approaches, based predominantly on leading outward symptoms, which is how many programs provide treatment. This approach can vastly overlook a number of important factors, including things such as physical factors, Co-Occurring Disorders, relational dynamics and triggers, and present emotional stressors. In other words, if the treatment was only aimed at the teens changing their behaviors and the causes went unaddressed, it’s indeed likely that sustained recovery won’t be possible.
This is why at Paradigm Treatment Centers, we design each treatment plan individually, according not just to symptoms and behaviors, but to a combination of thorough diagnostic assessments, which address all areas of teens’ lives. We pay especially careful attention to presence of Co-Occurring Disorders, such as when teens are struggling with substance abuse as well as a Teen Mood Disorder, such as Teen Anxiety or Teen Depression. We also incorporate individual daily therapy sessions for all teens, so that teens are deeply engaged and motivated in their own recovery and healing, every single day while they’re here. They also participate in multiple daily therapeutic groups and other sessions, which are all tailored to help motivate teens to engage authentically in therapy in new, fresh ways, on a daily basis. Lastly, we work with teens’ families consistently throughout the treatment process, in order to answer questions, provide information, and offer support through this challenging time.
These are just a few of the ways we provide thorough, individualized care in instances of Teen Treatment Resistance, and help teens and families find the recovery, healing, and growth they’re seeking. In this sense, at Paradigm Treatment Centers we’re uniquely qualified to support teens find the therapeutic work they need to do, in order for real and sustainable healing and change to take place. Our team at Paradigm Treatment Centers is made up of a highly skilled, experienced group of people that has dedicated their lives and their careers toward the lives of young people.
